Emil Filla Gallery
The Emil Filla Gallery in Ústí nad Labem is run by the “Lidé výtvarnému umění – výtvarné umění lidem” NGO which has been managing it since 1998 (used to be a foundation in 1991–1998). Emil Filla Gallery is committed to be a living, progressive art institution within a broader Center-European context, whils promoting a strong connection to the local cultural environment. Thanks to the extensive collaboration with similarly oriented institutions, the Emil Filla Gallery has become a major cultural center of contemporary art.
With its high degree of professional and cultural-heritage approach qualities, the program in the gallery aims to contribute to public education and to benefit both professional and general audiences. Thanks to the activities of the founding NGO, the gallery continues to be a prominent platform for intercultural dialogue, which grows from mutual relationships and contacts with domestic and foreign art, educational and social institutions, with the personalities of curators, theorists and artists, and with the public. The gallery is located in the unique industrial area of the former factory, which enhances the experience of the audience and also contributes to the revitalization of brownfields within the urban development of Ústí nad Labem.
